Dr. Phil Stephenson
Pathologist
Dr. Stephenson grew up in St. George, UT and later attended Weber State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology. Following undergraduate studies, he received a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed residency training in pathology at The University of South Dakota/Sanford School of Medicine. Following residency, he then completed fellowships at the University of Utah/Huntsman Cancer Institute in both Surgical and Cytopathology. Dr. Stephenson joined Associates of Pathology in 2015 where he serves as director of cytopathology and Molecular Testing. He is Board Certified as a Diplomate in the American Board of Pathology, and holds certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. His areas of interest include cytology, genitourinary and breast pathology. Dr. Stephenson is currently part of a national study looking at the different strains of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and their clinical significance in the development of cervical dysplasia, and has presented his findings at both local and national meetings.
